Web Statistics / Log Files

The statistics and log reporting area is located from within your Domain Manager of the Hosting Control Panel. You MUST log onto your Control Panel to setup any and all Hosted Domains that require any type of statistical reporting.

IMPORTANT: This feature is DISABLED until you log on to configure each Domain that requires web stats reporting.

866GetHost.com provides you the ability to have ANALOG only, RAW LOGS, or both. You have the options of choosing the frequency of your reporting, the day of the week of reporting, and you may setup each Hosted Domain with its own configuration of statistical reporting.

RAW LOGS
Raw log format allows you to FTP to your server and download the files. This format is especially useful for those that are using another application for analysis, such as WebTrends. To access the Raw Logs, you must FTP to the LOGS directory. The filename will be in the format:- domain-DateofLog.gz

Example: Domain Name: WebStats.com
Raw Log Format: webstats.com-06-08-02.gz

ANALOG REPORTS
This is typically what most clients will require. These reports are accessible via any web browser. Reports in this format will show in your /htdocs directory of the Domain Name. They actually go into a directory called reports/date/index.html. As they are in this format you may view them in your browser at :-http://domain.com/reports/06-08-02/index.html

SET-UP STATS / LOG FILES
To setup your Domains you must first log onto your Control Manager.

  1. Log onto your Control Manager.
  2. Click on Domain Manager from the Navigation Bar on the left.
  3. Select STATISTICS / LOG FILES
  4. If the Domain has NOT been setup, you will see the word "SETUP" under the OPTIONS column of that Domain.
  5. If this is the case, then click the work "SETUP"
  6. The STATISTICS/LOGFILE SETUP Dialog box will appear below.
  7. It will show you which DOMAIN NAME you are configuring. Go ahead and choose from all three drop-down dialog boxes the appropriate choices for the Domain.
  8. Click SETUP LOGS FOR THIS DOMAIN when you are finished.
  9. Once you have successfully setup the Domain, the Options column will now show the word "EDIT" in place of "SETUP"

To access the raw laws data, you must FTP to the logs directory of your server. The filename will be in the format of: domain-date-log.gz

You can download these files to your local computer and open them using any zip program (such as WinZip) to view the logs. This is the format you would use if you were using a program such as WebTrends to analyze your raw logs.

Understanding / Reading Your Analog Reports
If you require more information on how to read your Analog Reports, or on definations on the terminology used, please click here.

You will also notice another column titled ERROR LOG. This column reports the Error log on any script you may be writing/implementing by Domain. This is currently the only method of obtaining error logs on scripts.
