Manage Domain Names

The first step in setting up your Hosting account server, is to ensure that you have "added" any all all Domain Names that you are Hosting on this account.

  1. Log onto your Control Manager
  2. Choose DOMAIN MANAGER from the navigation menu on the left.
  3. Click on MANAGE DOMAIN NAMES
  4. For every Domain Name you are hosting, you must add the Domain Name using the ADD DOMAIN NAME(s) dialog box.
    1. Domain Name: <type in the Domain Name>
    2. You then have the ability to choose from one of the three options below. In most cases, if you intend for the Domain Name you are adding to have it's own website, then you would choose the middle option "MAKE NEW DIRECTORY", by selecting the radio button beside that choice. If this Domain Name is used to launch an existing website, or a file on the home directory, then you would choose either of the two other features.
  5. Click ADD DOMAIN NAME
  6. You will then see this newly added Domain in the dialog box above, titled CURRENT DOMAIN NAME(s) SETUP. You will notice that each Domain is showing the path to WEBSITE, as well the the path to SCRIPTS.

VIEW WEBSITE BEFORE CHANGING DNS

Once you have added your required Domain Names to the Hosting account, and you have uploaded your website data to the appropriate directories, you may want to view the website. In the CURRENT DOMAIN NAME(s) SETUP dialog box, you will see a TEST link beside each Domain Name. Simply click on the TEST link to the right of the Domain you want to test. Allow 1 hour to activate this feature. Once you have viewed your website, and are happy with the results, you may now feel confident about modifying your DNS to NS1.866GetHost.com and NS2.866GetHost.com.

**Be sure you have setup all your email prior to modifying DNS**
